Geriatric Menal Health Services provide an array of mental health services to respond to the social, emotional, and psychological needs of older adults and their families. Our services are tailored to meet your unique needs and can help you or your loved one cope with acute psychiatric and behavioral symptoms that include:
- Acute and chronic depressive illness
- Suicide risks
- Severe Anxiety, stress-related problems
- Aggressive or assaultive behaviors
- Social withdrawal
- Sudden and unexplained changes in behavior
- Alzheimer's disease and other demential with a concurrent psychiatric problem
Geriatric Mental Health Services include counseling, medication (evaluation, consultation and management) and referrals for elders and their families. In addition to providing these specialized services in our office, some home-based services are available when necessary. These services, which are provided by a licensed clinical social worker or a member of our psychiatry team, are insurance reimbursable by Medicare and other insurance providers. A sliding fee scale is available as needed.
Geriatric Mental Health Services
Caregiver CounselingCaregiver Counseling offers ongoing education, supportive counseling, communication strategies and mental health care options to caregivers of older adults. Caregivers meet monthly with an experienced licensed clinical social worker to discuss challenges of caregiving, to receive support and obtain education regarding available community resources.
Caregiver Support GroupCaregiver Support Group offers a free, educational and supportive environment for caregivers helping an older adult family member. The group is facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist and addresses issues faced by caregivers. There is no charge for this group and participants need not be existing clients of Family and Children’s Service in order to attend the group sessions.
Grandparents Support GroupGrandparents Support Group offers a free educational discussion group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. The group is facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist and addresses the unique challenges and issues facing grandparents. Participants need not be existing clients of Family and Children’s Service in order to attend the free group sessions.
